Sports Activities

 “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy.”
This saying is widely accepted in the Bishop Cotton family.  Thus, the school offers a wide variety of games and sports to its student body to enjoy, relax and to make them tougher both physically and mentally.  Sports are an integral part of the school and the boys just love the challenge of competing against each other. 

Sports in Bishop Cotton also teach the students important lessons about winning with dignity and losing with humility.  It also teaches the boys the importance of team work which cannot be taught in class rooms.  Sports also help students of Bishop Cotton to inculcate the spirit of competitiveness which is of immense importance in today’s world.

Bishop Cotton School hosts many Inter School events which is indeed a Herculean task, but in Bishop Cotton the teamwork and coordination make it all possible.

Inter School Athletics meet

Inter School Shooting Competitions.

The school teams also compete at various tournaments help in school across India in various sports, including The Bhupinder Singh Soccer Tournament at Lawrence School , Sanawar.

Inter House competitions are held in all sports.  Sports offer an opportunity for every single boy to participate.  Marathon running, Boxing, Artificial Rock Climbing and Obstacle Course are attempted by every fit child.  The school builds Schools Teams, Colts Teams, Atoms Teams and Electron Teams for Cricket, Soccer and Hockey.  All four houses have teams for all sports which gives each boy a chance to play in a team and improve enough to reach the school team.

Though playing in a team or attempting a game is a reward in itself, the school offers various incentives and rewards for achievement in sport.  Victorum Ludorum awards are awarded for Swimming and Athletics.   The Most Scientific Boxer Award is presented to the best boxer.  And the over-all achievement on sport in rewarded to one Cottonian every year.

The school offers facilities and infrastructure required for the above sports and also has qualified and experienced coaches for the sports.  The facilities and personnel are upgraded often and improvements are seen from year to year.
