Food
The food given to the boys is prepared in our own
kitchens by our own staff managed by the School Caterer assisted
by a Kitchen Supervisor and a Dining Hall Supervisor. The food is
healthy and wholesome and our baked beans are well-known and
widely appreciated as is our Kadhi and Rajmah. Breakfast consists
of a porridge and eggs or a vegetarian equivalent and toast and
butter and jam, accompanied by milk and tea. Sometimes parathas or
dosas are served. Every boy gets a minimum of 500ml of milk a day.
Lunch is usually rice and roti with dal and a vegetable and is
rounded off with fruit. Tea time snacks range from cakes to
patties, biscuits, sandwiches or samosas. Dinner is rice and roti
with a non-vegetarian and a vegetarian preparation with a sweet or
pudding. Soup and cutlets or roast or Chinese food are also great
favourites. once a week at least, or oftener, the boys are
subjected to a formal meal complete with tablecloths and napkins
and cutlery where they have to practice western table manners.
Care is taken while preparing these special menus so that the boys
are exposed to as many different kinds of food as possible and to
familiarize them with the techniques of handling crockery and
cutlery. Parents are most welcome to come in at any time to join
the boys as they eat and to partake of a meal with them.
