The boys are trained in PT, cricket, football, hockey, basketball, tennis, athletics, boxing, swimming, long distance running, table tennis, rifle shooting, volley ball, golf, squash and karate. The school's sporting traditions are old and illustrious. For example, the School is the current National Air Rifle Shooting Team Champion and some of India's top golfers are Old Boys. The Tennis and Basketball courts at BCS are one of the best in India, installed by the Harrison company. Further reading on sports activities at BCS is here.

The Edinburgh Outward bound activities programme:
Outward bound activities cover treks, river rafting, mountaineering and allied sports the artificial rock wall and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
Treks are organized twice a year by the school and we encourage the boys to explore the inner areas of the Himalayas. They have gone to Leh, Lahaul, Spiti, Kinnaur, trekked up to Chandra Tal, the source of the Chenab, and have explored most of the western Himalayan region. The middle school boys usually go to game parks to learn about the incredible bio-diversity of our country.
For river rafting they go to camps along the Alaknanda and the Yamuna where, under trained and certified personnel, they camp out and learn how to enjoy themselves while paying full homage to nature with all its whims and fancies.
Mountain climbing is a serious activity at Bishop Cotton, which follows a national certification programme monitored by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. Our boys have climbed mount Leo Pargyal (22,290 ft) Stok Kangri (19,700 ft) and Jonli (21,760 ft) among other lesser peaks.
Before undertaking these adventures the summit teams undergo training at the Western Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the National Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute at Darjeeling for the basic and advanced training programmes. When given certification, they head for the hills and in the process pick up valuable skills that they learn from helping organize the expeditions. They are accompanied by certified teachers, mountain guides, and porters. The programme is directed by (on site) Brig. (retd.) Darshan Khullar, Padma Shri, Arjuna Awardee, Everester.
Outward bound activities cover

The Duke of Edinburgh Activities programme or the Indian Youth Award scheme as it is now renamed, encourages students to compete against their own selves and increase their abilities by awarding points for community work, physical activity and adventure sports. Children can work towards acquiring Bronze, Silver and Gold medals. These awards are internationally recognized and help toward college and university admission and a professional career
